Pacific grad scores Nashville summer internship
After graduating Commencement weekend with her degree in business administration, Cassie Findlay '18 embarked on an exciting internship with Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) located on Music Row in Nashville, Tennessee. BMLG artists include Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts, Thomas Rhett and more. Findlay is excited to combine her passions for business and music working as an operations management intern in the heart of "Music City."
At Pacific, Findlay got a chance to learn about the music business and the behind-the-scenes aspects of the recording business in her class on "How to Run an Independent Record Label." Along with her team members at Pac Ave Records, Pacific's student-run recording label, she helped produce and market "Rose Gold: Songs for Sonoma," a compilation album featuring performances by student artists. The album raised over $3,400 to benefit victims of the October 2017 fires in Sonoma County. She also credits Pacific's Career Resource Center for helping her successfully apply for the internship.
"I have continuously worked with and was supported by Deb Crane," Findlay said. Crane, director of campus career partnerships in the Career Resource Center, assisted Findlay in a variety of ways, including writing cover letters and follow-up emails, and with resume preparation. "She was always available to review my work and she generously provided me with advice and suggestions in how I could improve a document. I would highly recommend students exhaust every opportunity they receive and to use the Career Resource Center services to help guide them and advance their career development."
