Men's and Women's Basketball at the WCC conference basketball championships

The West Coast Conference (WCC) Basketball Championships are being hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the Orleans Arena inside the Orleans Hotel and Casino. The tournament began on Thursday, March 1, and continues through Tuesday, March 6.

The Tigers women's basketball team advances to the semifinals against #6 University of San Diego on Monday, March 5, after a 77-73 win over the #2 St. Mary's Gaels. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m.  The team earned a seventh-seed in the WCC Basketball Championships and opened the tournament against tenth-seeded University of Portland Pilots on March 1. A double-digit effort by three players carried the University of the Pacific women 's basketball team to an 85-60 victory, advanced the team to the second round against #2 St. Mary's on Friday, March 2. 

The Pacific Tigers men's basketball team were eliminated from West Coast Conference Championship play after dropping a 71-70 decision to fourth-seeded University of San Francisco Saturday, March 3. Pacific entered tournament play as the fifth-seed after earning its first bye in the WCC Basketball Championships due to its season sweep over the University of San Diego who also finished with a similar record of 9-9 in conference play. The team concludes 2017-18 play with an overall record of 14-18 and a 9-9 record in WCC play. 

Every game of the WCC Basketball Championships will be nationally televised and winners of the men's and women's tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
