She recieved her B.S and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction-Mathematics, and her Ph.D. in Instructional Leadership, Social Foundations of Education, and Qualitative Research Methods from University of Alabama. In regards to academic programs and administrative units, she believes in initiating dialogue and interactions with faculty and staff based on where they are and then collaborating with them to strategically progress from that initial standpoint. This approach has been effective in shifting the focus of faculty and staff from just demonstrating compliance to engaging in continuous improvement and strategic planning efforts.

As a researcher, consultant, educator, faculty member, administrator, and life-long learner, she is committed to providing educational and professional experiences devoted to developing individuals' understanding of knowledge construction, learning, pedagogy, and responsible professional practice in the contexts of higher education. She strives to prepare professionals in continuously valuing and demonstrating reflective leadership and ethical decision-making through respecting diversity, honoring difference, supporting equity, and promoting social justice.
