Building a stronger university: Integrating services across our campuses

One of Pacific's greatest assets is having three strong campuses in some of the state's most important markets. Becoming a leading university is dependent upon being responsive to students' changing needs — for example, adding new undergraduate, graduate and degree completion programs — while providing a high level of seamless service to all students, regardless of program or location.

To achieve these goals, Pacific is continuing to integrate administrative services across campuses. This work began with the appointment of campus directors in Sacramento and San Francisco to ensure close collaboration and coordinated services across the university:   

  • Patrick Faverty was appointed as the Sacramento Campus Director in 2016. He coordinates services to the faculty, students and staff on the campus which includes the McGeorge School of Law and several graduate programs and one undergraduate degree completion program.   
  • Kara Bell will serve as the San Francisco Campus Director. She will coordinate services to Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and the five graduate programs on the campus

The campus directors are responsible for coordinating fiscal services, building operations, public safety and human resources and report directly to Ken Mullen, Vice President for Business and Finance, with dotted-line reporting to the deans of the anchor schools on their respective campuses: Michael Schwartz, Dean of the McGeorge School of Law, and Nader Nadershahi, Dean of the Dugoni School of Dentistry.  

Similarly, each campus will have designated campus leads to coordinate other administrative services to ensure these functions are consistent and integrated between the Sacramento, San Francisco and Stockton campuses. These campus leads report directly to administrative unit leaders (vice presidents) with dotted line reporting to campus leadership:

  • Registrar: In Sacramento, Lisa Erck serves as Associate University Registrar. In San Francisco, Jill Rodgers will serve as Associate University Registrar. Both report to Margo Landy, the University Registrar. 
  • Financial Aid: In Sacramento, Joe Pinkas serves as Associate University Director of Financial Aid. In San Francisco, Marco Castellanos will serve as Associate University Director of Financial Aid. Both report to Lynn Fox, Assistant Vice Provost and Executive Director of Financial Aid.
  • Graduate School: Olivia Nash is the new Assistant Dean for Admission and Recruitment and reports to Thomas Naehr, the new Graduate School dean. They are in the process of hiring Graduate Student Support Service Specialists (GS4) for the Sacramento and San Francisco campuses.
  • Student Life: Student Life is enhancing health care support in Sacramento and San Francisco.
  • Technology: In Sacramento, Jeff Groetsema is the Sacramento Campus IT Assistant Director reporting to Peggy Kay, Assistant Vice President for Technology Customer Experience. In San Francisco, Raybel Ramos will be Assistant Vice President for San Francisco Technology, reporting to Art Sprecher, Vice President of Technology and Chief Information Officer.
  • Public Safety: Public safety personnel on all campuses will report to the Executive Director of Public Safety, Mike Belcher, for consistency in public safety practices and incident response. In Sacramento, Jackie Long serves as the Director of Public Safety and works closely with Patrick Faverty, Campus Director. In San Francisco, Berry Coleman serves as interim Public Safety Director, continuing to work closely with Kara Bell, Campus Director. 
  • Marketing and Communications: In Sacramento, Bethany Daniels serves as the Director of Marketing. In San Francisco, Dan Soine will be the interim Senior Director of Marketing and Branding. Both report to Marge Grey, Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications.

This integration is designed to benefit students, faculty and staff through cross-disciplinary and collaborative opportunities in addition to providing consistent policies and best practices across the university. The integration will be assessed regularly to ensure the university is reaching its goals of delivering high quality student services and improved processes and practices for faculty and staff.
