Request It!
Current students, staff, and faculty of the University of the Pacific are eligible to request library-owned items by using the "Request It!" feature in our online catalog, or PacificSearch. Requested books will be retrieved from the shelves and placed on hold at the Pacific Library Service Desk of your choice.
To request an item:

While searching our online catalog, when you find a book you’d like, click on the Request It button:
- You will be prompted to log in to your library account, if you’re not signed in already.
- Complete the form, selecting the pickup location of your choice:
- Stockton Campus Library
- Rite Aid Information Commons
- Sacramento Campus & Law Library
- San Francisco Campus (items will be mailed to you)
- Library staff will contact you when the book is ready for pick up.
- You can return the book to any of Pacific’s 3 libraries.
FAQ's
Who can request items?
- Current students, faculty, and staff of the University of the Pacific (inclusive of Pacific’s campuses in Stockton, Sacramento, and San Francisco).
How long will it take?
- Most books are delivered to the hold shelf within 2 days of date requested.
- May take several days if the book needs to be delivered to a different library, or when the library receives high volume of requests.
- Turnaround time excludes weekends and holidays.
How long will books be held for me?
- Books will remain on the hold shelf for 7 days from the day that you receive your hold notice.
Is there a limit to what I can request?
- There is no limit to the number of items that can be requested. However, the library will reserve the right to process no more than 10 items per person per day when there is a heavy demand of requested items.
- Some materials are not eligible to be requested for hold, including reserves, reference, periodicals, and special collections.
Why was my request canceled? What are my options for obtaining materials?
- If you have not picked up the book in over 7 days from your hold notice, the book will be returned to the shelves.
- If the book is unavailable, you will receive an email offering other possible options to obtain the requested item.
- You may request books through interlibrary loan or Link+.
