Here are examples of how University of the Pacific was represented in the news media in recent days:

"Why the world better manages water crises like Harvey," The Christian Science Monitor, Aug. 28, 2017: McGeorge's Stephen McCaffrey, winner of the 2017 Stockholm Water Prize presented to him last week in Sweden for World Water Week, was mentioned in this editorial about the way the world manages water during a crisis, such as Hurricane Harvey. Of McCaffrey, the editorial board wrote: "His work as both a scholar and mediator in international water law has contributed 'to the sustainable and peaceful management of shared waters.'" The editorial was picked up by Yahoo News and news aggregator websites. A story about the presentation by Stockholm International Water Institute was carried by several news aggregator websites and The Source, the quarterly magazine of the International Water Association, and Financial Express.

"Tax breaks for Amazon's Salem operation worth the investment, experts say," Statesman Journal (Salem, Oregon), Aug. 29, 2017: Center for Business and Policy Director Jeff Michael was quoted in this story about $3.7 million in property tax breaks Amazon will receive for a new fulfillment center near Salem, Oregon. He questioned whether Amazon needed such incentives for building so close to Interstate 5. He also said local retailers might see new sales because of Amazon employees and that Salem likely would see a net employment gain.

"Using the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office," Fox 40 (KTXL, Sacramento-Stockton- Modesto), Aug. 18, 2017: McGeorge's Leslie Jacobs provides context for this story about the possible use of the 25th Amendment to remove Donald Trump from the presidency.

"Immigration policy takes center stage in Stockton," The Record, Sept. 1, 2017: Ines Ruiz-Huston, Pacific's Latinx outreach coordinator, commented in this story about a round-table discussion on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals featuring California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs. The story said she was encouraged by the discussion and Becerra's commitment to DACA.

"Pacific named a Top 20 environmentally friendly school," The Record, Aug. 30, 2017: University of the Pacific's inclusion on Sierra Magazine's "Cool Schools" list was reported. This is the second time Pacific's sustainability efforts have placed the university in the top 20 and the seventh time the school has been on the list. The initial story was picked up by several news aggregator websites.

"Ted Leland Announces Retirement as Director of Athletics,", Aug. 29, 2017: Ted Leland's letter to the community about his Oct. 23 retirement was published by this hyperlocal outlet. The announcement was also picked up by several news aggregator websites.
