Shawn Leyva '14 receives Outstanding Young Civil Engineer award
The ASCE Sacramento Section recognizes Shawn M. Leyva, PE, with the Outstanding Young Civil Engineer Award for his service to the profession, with a particular focus on student support.
Leyva received his bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering and master of science in Engineering Science from University of the Pacific in 2014. He is currently a Project Engineer at Crawford & Associates, Inc. in Sacramento, CA. His professional experience includes planning, coordinating and managing geotechnical field explorations. He serves as Treasurer for the ASCE Central Valley Branch and as Scholarship Chair for the Sacramento Chapter of the American Public Works Association. He has served as mentor to students on the Pacific ASCE MidPacific student competition teams, as a guest speaker in classes, an evaluator of student projects, and as a constant advocate for students. Leyva is recognized for his contributions to the profession and to the development of future civil engineers.
