A History of the Philippines

Phili
The Spanish American War heralded a new chapter in the history of the Philillipines as the island nation found itself a colony under American rule. Conflict would dominate the early years of this period as U.S. Soldiers struggled against Spanish troops, Filipino insurgents, and Moro Muslims. Later, with pease restored, many of the inhabitants of these islands would immigrate to America as U.S. Nationals, granted freedom of movement, but denied the rights of citizenship. Another conflict, however, would change the situation, and pave the way for independence.
