Jennifer D. Geiger, MA, MT-BC has been a Board Certified Music Therapist since 1995. She is the owner of a private practice in the greater San Francisco Bay Area (since 2000) and has provided fieldwork supervision and guest lectures for the University of the Pacific throughout her career. Ms. Geiger is a graduate of Willamette University (BM) and the University of the Pacific (MA), both with an emphasis in Music Therapy. She completed her internship at Philhaven Hospital in Mt. Gretna, PA. Her work in private practice focuses on older adults in group, individual, home and facility settings. She is serves on the Board of Directors as President of the American Music Therapy Association, Inc. (2016-2017).
Professional highlights include presenting at regional, national and international conferences as well as through local/community organizations. Her interview on being a music therapist with older adults was published in a book of careers in gerontology. She contributed information for a chapter on music therapy in a workbook for elementary school teachers. Her work regarding a music listening program resulted in the development of resources for music therapists nationwide and a podcast interview. Ms. Geiger had the privilege of testifying in front of the California Senate Committee on Business, Professions and Development for Asembly Bill 1279 (Holden) in 2015.
