Success After Pacific
The Department of Physics is proud of the hundreds of living alumni who have their degree in Physics from University of the Pacific. Take a look at where some of them have taken their Physics degrees since they graduated from Pacific.
Kim Nguyen '12
High School Physics Teacher and Middle School AVID Teacher
In 2012, Kim Nguyen graduated with a BS in Physics and is currently working as a high school physics teacher and middle school AVID teacher. "I love that I can mentor young minds to learn, play and push them to think outside the box. I enjoy my job so much that I consider almost every work day a play day!" Kim says.
To students who are considering studying physics, Kim advises them, "To persevere through the long hours of pondering and to not focus on the results. The journey on how to learn and how to think is more important than a numerical number in the end."
Her favorite memory from Pacific is the time she spent in Pep Band. "I love the positive energy and being a part of a classy group that has just one cause - school spirit! I met and became friends with many wonderful people from different majors and all walks of life."
Kim says that, at Pacific, she had the freedom to explore and decide who she wanted to be with encouragement from her peers and Pacific's staff. "The community is welcoming, kind-hearted and accepting - this extends beyond the local community. When encountering a Pacifican beyond Stockton, it could be a warm simple 'Hello' to a full on conservation like long lost friends."
