COVID-19 Update:

We were looking forward to meeting you and your family members in person at University of the Pacific’s New Student and Family Orientations. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, this summer’s New Student Orientation will be moving online to ensure the health and safety of our community. Updated information has been sent to new student's Pacific email addresses and included on our New Student Orientation and Family Orientation pages.

Welcome to Pacific!

We are so excited that you and your family will be joining the Pacific Family! Pacific's new Student Orientation is designed to help with your transition into our community. We want to welcome you and give you an opportunity to access the information needed to get you off to a great start. All new undergraduate students, Transfer and First-Year, participate in New Student Orientation.  Our Orientation Leaders and Staff are ready to assist you and answer all of your questions about classes, campus life, and other exciting opportunities at Pacific.

Summer 2020 Orientation Dates

  • Online New Student Orientation
    • Monday, June 22nd - Thursday, July 2nd
    • Monday, July 20th - Friday, July 31st
    • Monday, August 3rd - Friday, August 14th
  • Week of Welcome
    • Monday, August 17th - Sunday, August 23rd

Orientation Session Registration

As the summer 2020 Orientation experience will be online this year, students will be registered for orientation sessions based on the date of their confirmation of enrollment:

*Conservatory of Music is only offered in August.

If you are unable to participate in your designated orientation session, fill out this form. You will receive a confirmation email in your Pacific email address when your session change is approved and your should see the change in your insidePacific.

New Student Orientation is Mandatory

During Orientation, you will:

  • Learn about campus life from current Pacific students
  • Connect with other students
  • Meet Pacific faculty, staff, and administrators
  • Discuss important college issues for new students
  • Receive information about important campus resources and services
  • Get your questions answered about coming to campus
  • Receive academic advising
  • Register for classes

Placement Testing

Students that are required to complete course placement assessments must do so prior to Orientation. These assessments ensure that you are placed in the appropriate courses to support your learning and assist you and your faculty advisor in planning your program of study.  You can learn more about Pacific's course placement assessments and fundamental skills requirements by visiting on-campus testing resources, calling 209.946.2458, or emailing

Additional New Student Events

Starting in June, connect with your fellow new students, orientation leaders and campus community to learn more about life at Pacific and ask any questions you may have. First-Year Fridays are for students entering their first year of college, and Transfer Tuesdays are for students transferring to Pacific from another college or university. A calendar of topics will be sent to your Pacific email address and posted via our website, and social media.
