Business and Finance

Patrick FavertyPatrick Faverty appointed Sacramento Campus Director
Vice President for Business and Finance Ken Mullen announced last week the appointment of Patrick Faverty as the inaugural Sacramento Campus director for University of the Pacific. He began the new position on Oct. 10. Faverty was the executive director and CEO of Lowell Consulting, an educational consulting firm that provides professional leadership training and assists with organizational change, planning and innovation, including serving as an approved District Assistance and Intervention Team (DAIT) provider for schools identified for Title I Program Improvement. His broad background in educational administration also includes serving as program director for the doctoral program in educational leadership at University of California, Santa Barbara, and as superintendent of the Rio School District in Oxnard, California. In this newly established role, Faverty will lead and collaboratively develop a campus operational strategy that aligns with institutional initiatives and ensures a cohesive set of services to all Pacific students and faculty. He will report to Vice President Mullen and will have direct leadership over the Sacramento Campus business office, human resources, facilities and auxiliary services, with indirect leadership over other Sacramento administrative units in the academic, student life and technology divisions. 

Daniela Romero is a new university budget analyst in the Budget Office.

Nancy Romero was promoted to enterprise risk management specialist in Enterprise Risk Management.

Cara Schon is the new learning and performance specialist in Learning and Development.

Distributed Learning
Vernon Smith, 
vice provost for distributed learning, has accepted an appointment as provost and senior vice president at American Public University System (APUS), effective Nov. 1. His last day at Pacific is Oct. 21. Smith joined Pacific in 2014. Among his accomplishments during the past two years, he oversaw the re-establishment of the Center for Teaching and Learning and the launch of instructional and media design services; successfully guided efforts to identify and implement Canvas, Pacific's new learning management system; and worked with the San Francisco and Sacramento campuses to support new graduate programs. Veronica Brown has transferred with promotion to the position of admission counselor in the Office of Admission.

Kirsten Livingston was promoted to admissions counselor for Law Admissions in the McGeorge School of Law on the Sacramento Campus.
