Our department distinguishes and prides itself on "personalized learning" experiences, and to that end we provide more attention to teaching quality and advising compared to many other institutions. We never turn away majors from our classes because they are full, and consequently, a degree in Economics at Pacific can be completed within 4 years.
At Pacific, our upper division economics classes are small, enabling us to provide a high degree of attention and promote in-depth class discussions for our students.

Many of our faculty have international experience and have spent substantial time in places such as Uganda, Tajikistan and the United Kingdom, and we draw on this to bring an international perspective to our courses. Learning Beyond the Classroom
Our students have the opportunity for participate in internships with local firms, national and international businesses and organizations as well as government agencies. Thanks to a generous gift from alumnus John C. Beyer '62, two economics students each year are chosen as Nathan Scholars-a fully-paid summer internship at a Washington, DC-based international consulting firm. Students are also encouraged to conduct undergraduate research under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Several students have been awarded summer research grant funds and some have presented their work at national research conferences.
