Application Process
So you're interested in the SUCCESS TRiO Program? Below you will find the step-by-step process of applying to the program, the interview process, and the process we take after the interview is complete. If you have any questions regarding the process please contact us at success@pacific.edu.
Application Process:
Once you complete the application for the SUCCESS TRiO Program the staff confirms the following information with other departments on campus:
1) First-Generation Status
2) Financial Aid Status
3) Documentation of Disabilities
The average timeframe for confirming this information is approximately 1 to 2 weeks. After eligibility criteria is confirmed you will be invited for an Initial Interview.

Our office is located on the first floor of the McCaffrey Building (marked by blue arrow on map). We are below the campus housing office, across from the Multicultural Center, and located next to the Grove.
Interview Process:
You will be contacted by a SUCCESS staff member to schedule your interview, either in person or via SKYPE (for those living outside the Stockton area). The interview process takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, in which you will be asked questions by a SUCCESS staff member, an external staff/faculty member, and a current SUCCESS student. During this interview you will be asked to identify (1) program services that may benefit you, (2) your short-term and long-term goals, and finally (3) you will be asked if you have any questions for the interviewers.
Skype Interview:
Skype interviews are given priority to students that live out of the area. If you have a SKYPE interview scheduled you will need to provide your Skype username when the interview is scheduled or when your interview is confirmed via e-mail. Prior to the interview please check your connection speed and internet reliability. On the day of the interview we will contact you through the Skype messenger service to add your username to our contact list 30 minutes prior to the interview. We will then proceed with the interview at the scheduled time.

General Tips for the Initial Interview:
1. Be prepared! Know what the TRiO program does, what it has to offer, and be prepared to discuss how we can help you along your academic journey!
2. Dress: We do not expect you to wear formal clothing; however, present yourself in a professional and respectful manner.
3. Engage: Be prepared to provide more than one sentence answers. We are here to listen to your needs and to discuss how we can help you here at University of the Pacific. Take advantage of the opportunity!
After the Interview: After you have completed interview the SUCCESS staff will meet to discuss your answers. Based on a number of factors (1) eligibility status, (2) spots in the program, (3) your interview answers - the SUCCESS staff will make a decision about your acceptance into the program. You will be notified of your status shortly after your interview process has concluded.
