Office of the ProvostFeb 8, 2016

The University of the Pacific Institutional Review Board (IRB) committee recently selected by a unanimous vote Dr. Todd Davenport, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, as its co-chair. Dr. Davenport replaces Dr. Jim Mansoor, who stepped down to concentrate on his work with the new Physician Assistant Program. Dr. Eleanor Wittrup will continue as co-chair. The IRB committee reviews, examines and evaluates proposals for experimentation using human subjects in accordance with federal guidelines. The term of service for IRB co-chairs is three years.

Dr. Davenport has served on the IRB for seven years. As co-chair, his responsibilities will include conducting expedited review and preliminary assessments of risk levels for submitted studies. Dr. Mansoor has served as a member of the IRB for 22 years, and as co-chair for about the last 10 years. Provost Pallavicini would like to thank Dr. Mansoor for his many years of service on the IRB, including his time as co-chair.
