Dr. Sonia Leong joined the Conservatory of Music in fall 2001. She holds the Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the University of British Columbia, the Master of Music degree in piano performance from Peabody Conservatory of Music, a Concert Recital Diploma from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and the Doctor of Music in piano performance from the University of Montreal. Her principal teachers include Robert Silverman, Julian Martin, Alexander Volkov, and Marc Durand.

Dr. Leong has performed solo recitals at the Hong Kong Institute of Education in Hong Kong, the University of Puget Sound, Radiostudio Bern in Switzerland, Museum Oskar Reinhart am Stadtgarten in Winterthur Switzerland, Universite de Lausanne in Switzerland, Christchurch Cathedral in Montreal, Canada, Teatru de Stat in Romania, and many other places. She was a soloist with the Banff Festival Chamber Orchestra in Canada, was a prizewinner in the Concours Piano 80 in Switzerland, and was a finalist in the Concorso Pianistico Nazionale "Citta de Cesenatico" in Italy. Dr. Leong has taught at the University of Montreal, the Conservatoire de Musique de Sion, and the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington.

At University of the Pacific, Dr. Leong teaches piano, chamber music, and is the pianist with Trio 180, the resident piano trio. She is the Interim Associate Professor of Practice in Piano and Program Director for the Piano Area.
