Join the library book club for a "thousand mile walk"

Feb 1, 2016

The Library's book club will be reading John Muir's A Thousand-Mile Walk to the Gulf for a brown bag discussion at noon on Thursday, March 31, in the Taylor Conference Room. Anyone is invite to join us while we explore this transformational period that starts just after Muir almost blinds himself in an industrial accident to when he steps foot in Yosemite.

The university library is the home of world's largest collection of Muir's letters, journals, manuscripts and drawings. Mike Wurtz, curator of Muir material at Pacific, will lead the discussion and might bring along the very journal that Muir used in 1867-68! Learn more at

Digital copies of the book are available in various formats from the following sites:

Internet Archive pdf version
Yosemite Online plain text pdf version
