Liberty or Death: The American Revolution

As British soldiers advanced across the Atlantic to suppress a smoldering revolt, a defiant politician named Patrick Henry urged his fellow colonists towards war with the immortal words, "Give me liberty or give me death!" Through a series of films, lectures, and first-hand accounts, this course will bring to life the tumultuous times of the American Revolution. Join colonists as they dump tea in Boston Harbor, witness the first shots of the war fired at Lexington, travel with Washington across the frozen Delaware River, and view the unfolding civil war that erupts as not all Americans were patriots. Grades will be assessed by the submission of four short assignments involving the interpretation of primary documents, the submission of three discussion questions after each movie, and general class participation.
