On "Giving Tuesday," give to United Way and enter to win a 2016-17 parking pass!
Today is "Giving Tuesday" around the country, when — after all the shopping hype of Black Friday and Cyber Monday — we take time to reach out to those in need. What better day to make your annual United Way contribution! And everyone who participates in this year's campaign will be entered to win a 2016-17 parking pass.
It has been a very busy fall term, filled with numerous events on top of the normal academic activities, and many members of our community may have not had the opportunity to consider their United Way contributions for the coming year. In order to allow more time for everyone to have an opportunity to participate, the campaign deadline has been extended to Friday, Dec. 18, when there will be a drawing for one A and one B parking pass.
As of last week, the Stockton campus United Way campaign had raised $64,992.12, just over halfway to the annual goal of $110,000. Thanks so much to all who have participated thus far. With 12% participation so far, we are also only about halfway to our participation goal of 25%.
"Pacific is a leader in this region in so many areas. Let's continue that spirit by staying a leader in the United Way Campaign, and by opening our hearts to those in need," said President Pamela Eibeck. "Please help Pacific make a difference in San Joaquin County by making a gift through United Way today."
Last year, the Pacific community raised $112,000 with 35% participation. Let's put forth the extra effort over the next three weeks to help those in great need in our community and support the hard-working nonprofits who do so much to improve the lives of those individuals.
You may use your United Way pledge form or update your annual contribution online (for those making monthly pledges who did so in the previous year). If you need a new pledge form, please contact Lorena Quilenderino or contact your unit's campaign coordinator.
"I am thankful that we have raised nearly $65,000, but I know we can do so much more," said United Way Campaign Chair Steve Whyte. "Help us continue to demonstrate to our community that Pacific knows the importance of giving. Please contact your department's United Way Leader or call me at 209.946.2753 if you have any questions. Thank you for your support of this very important effort where everyone in our community benefits!"
