Kelly Johnson

Jarett Heskett (Education) and Kelly Johnson (Speech-Language Pathology) participated in a summer language immersion program in Guatemala.

The summer immersion program to Guatemala was my first time out of the country. It was a great experience and has made me realize that I would love to travel to other places and learn about different cultures. At the time, I was minoring in Spanish and this program greatly helped me with my studies. I was able to comprehend Spanish 5 times better than before I went. The personalized sessions each day helps so much and you are able to practice all around the town. Now of course you are in school for 6 hours a day, but you also get to experience so much that the city has to offer. I loved walking around with friends after class and finding new stores or museums each day to explore. Not to mention the best ice cream I have ever had in my life! I enjoyed all of the different weekend trips and all the history that I was able to see. I would recommend that anyone go on this trip if they are able to because it is an experience of a lifetime and one that will stay wit you for the rest of your life.
