Barbara Shaw Accepts Appointment to the President’s Office
Congratulations to Barbara Shaw, who recently accepted an appointment as Special Assistant to the President. Shaw transitions to this new role from her position as Associate Provost for the Center for Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE). In the President's Office, she will lead high-level, University-wide initiatives, such as spearheading Pacific's Title IX efforts. She also will develop a plan for the President's Office to coordinate the University's commencement ceremonies, which Shaw has successfully led for the past 10 years.
"I want to thank Barbara for her years of service to CPCE and am pleased that she will continue to serve the University in the President's Office," stated Provost Maria Pallavicini. "This new role is one in which she can build upon her successes and share not only her experience with commencement, but also provide leadership for some key University's cross-campus and cross-divisional initiatives."
With Shaw's transfer to the President's Office, Vernon Smith, Vice Provost for Distributed Learning and Instructional Technology, will assume daily oversight of CPCE and its activities. CPCE is currently undergoing a review of best practices in extension education and a search for a permanent leader will occur once future planning is complete.
