Long-time PAF Board Member, Fund Drive Worker, Donor and Friend Max Paulsen's Memorial Service will be held this Friday, August 7 at Noon at Church of the Presentation on Benjamin Holt Drive in Stockton.

A native of Lake Andes, South Dakota, Max moved to Stockton in 1961 along with his wife Marion when he was hired as General Manager for New York Life. His son, Rick, is a former Pacific Basketball and Baseball player and alumnus ('82).

Max first got involved with Pacific Athletics in 1970 when he was one of the founders of the Pacific Athletic Foundation (PAF), the annual fundraising arm of the Athletics Department. Max served on the PAF Board for 45 years and along with his son, Rick, have raised well over $2 million for Pacific Athletics.

In the late 90's, during a time when PAF was without a PAF Director, Max volunteered for a year and half to fill the void and he was inducted into the Pacific Athletics Hall of Fame in 1989-90. In addition, the PAF has named the annual Fund Drive New Cash Award in his honor and dedicated the 2015-16 Fund Drive to him.

"Max loved Pacific. He loved all of my former teammates, the Pacific Coaches and Staff and was proud to be part of the Family," said Rick Paulsen, Max's son.

"Max will be greatly missed and was a key part of the PAF Board for many years. We are very grateful for everything he and his son Rick have done for Pacific. Pacific Athletics would like to extend our condolences to the Paulsen family," said Ted Leland, Director of Athletics.
