Internal nominations for a faculty member to hold the position of Interim Dean of Research and Graduate Studies (Click HERE for Job Description) are due May 15, 2015. This is an academic-administrative position that requires strong academic leadership as the Academic Division embarks on implementation of its Academic Plan. To aid in this transition, many of the compliance and administrative duties will be handled by administrative staff external to the Office of Research and Graduate Studies.
The individual in this position will be particularly influential and creative in encouraging research/scholarship by promoting internal and external networks to advance programs that enhance Pacific's reputation and ultimately increase funding for research. This individual will deliberate on intellectual property/patent issues and support faculty in making recommendations for internal research awards
The individual in this position will promote and advocate for graduate education, oversee the Committee on Graduate Studies and enhance experiences for graduate students across Pacific's three campuses. He/she will work with multiple units to ensure that Pacific's graduate students experience the depth and breadth of opportunities available and receive the support needed to be successful.
This position will be a one year interim (or until filled) appointment. Currently the position is 70% FTE effort. With the removal of compliance and other administrative issues a 50-70% FTE effort is anticipated.
