Your Staff Advisory Council representatives have been hard at work advocating for Pacific's staff during the 2014-2015 fiscal year. Take a look at some of the items we've accomplished over the past year.

  • Approval of the Statement of Recognition (SOR) by University Administrators and the Board of Regents affirming the role of S.A.C. 
    • SOR being placed in the Employee Handbook (pending)
  • Joint effort with Academic Council to request the hiring of an Ombudsperson
  • Participating in PAC+ and FOOF reviews of Administrative and Academic Units
  • Participating in the interview process during searches for key University positions on the Stockton campus, particularly the Ombudsperson and AVP – External Relations
  • S.A.C. elected representatives or designees serving on all major, non-academic University committees
  • Advocating for continued support of staff professional development opportunities through the S.A.C. Scholarship
    • Revising the S.A.C. Scholarship application to be more user-friendly and accessible online
    • Awarding 22 staff constituents with S.A.C. Scholarships as of March 2015
  • Advocating for the return of Pacific traditions
    • S.A.C. hosting “Staff Appreciation” events on both Stockton and Sacramento campuses
    • Successfully advocating for Years of Service/Cavanaugh Service Awards to go back to an all-campus lunch (hosted by HR) – Will occur May 28, 2015
  • Successfully advocating for the University Administration to make improving staff morale and satisfaction a priority
    • President Eibeck and the Cabinet making “Supporting Our People” one of 4 University Priority areas on all 3 campuses
    • Office of Planning & Institutional Research conducting staff climate survey and subsequent analysis of results, helping to promote staff participation (47% of staff completed the survey)
    • Meeting with President Eibeck, VP Mary Lou Lackey and Chief of Staff Bett Schumacher respectively on a regular basis to address concerns as they arise
    • Working collaboratively on a regular basis with the Office of Marketing and Communications and President’s Chief of Staff Bett Schumacher in sharing information with staff via the Pacific Insider, etc.
    • Surveying staff and communicating with them via e-mail regularly to solicit feedback on challenges and proposed solutions to morale and satisfaction issues
    • Meeting with VP Ken Mullen about challenges and proposed solutions to help identify areas for improvement in transactional areas of internal and external University services
    • Participating in the formation of a Workplace Flexibility Committee and related focus groups
  • Strategic engagement with staff at the Sacramento and SF campuses
    • Collaboratively working with DSAC to craft the Statement of Recognition
    • Hosting one S.A.C. meeting each semester at McGeorge School of Law
    • Hosting two Staff Appreciation events at McGeorge School of Law
  • Successfully having the University Bookstore on the Stockton campus stock “Pacific Staff” branded merchandise
