New Students

Congratulations once again in your admission to the University of the Pacific!

Once you receive your I-20 or DS-2019, complete the following steps:

Step 1: Pay the SEVIS Fee

The SEVIS fee is required by the U.S. government as a means to pay for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). SEVIS maintains electronic records on all F-1 and J-1 visitors to the U.S.For more information regarding the SEVIS fee, please visit the Student and Exchange Visitor Program website.


Step 2: Apply for a Visa

Each student should review the visa requirements and appointment process for the U.S. embassy or consulate that is located closest to them as each embassy can have slightly different requirements for the same visa. For the basic list of requirements for F-1 and J-1 visa, please visit the U.S. State Department's website.


Step 3: Submit the Confirmation Deposit

Step 4: Register for On-Campus Housing, a Meal Plan and pay  your Housing Deposit

Step 5: Submit Arrival Form to IPS

This is a required form that must be submitted as soon as you make your travel arrangements. If you have any problems with accessing the form, please contact IPS

Step 5: Submit Payment for Tuition and Housing

Step 6: Submit Immunization Paperwork

If you have any questions about the immunization paperwork, please contact UOP Health Department

Please know that all non state-sponsored (e.g., Kuwaiti and Saudi Arabian nationals) international students are required to purchase University of the Pacific health insurance. State-sponsored students must complete the health insurance waiver upon arrival.


Step 7: Review the International Student Pre-Departure Handbook

The International Student Pre-Departure Handbook is a wealth of information to assist students as they prepare for their career at Pacific. Any additional questions can be submitted to IPS


Step 8: Attend Orientation

Orientation is mandatory for all new students. Students with an assistantship are advised to check in with IPS within 48 hours of their arrival. For more information, see International Student Orientation.
