University Ombudsperson to begin taking confidential appointments in February

Jan 8, 2015

Pacific's first ombudsperson will begin taking appointments starting Feb. 11 from members of the University community who seek a neutral and confidential resource to help resolve work-related issues. The service is available to faculty, staff, student employees and administration on all three campuses.

Hector EscalanteHector Escalante was appointed Pacific's inaugural ombudsperson late last year following a national search. He officially assumed the role on Jan. 1 and will establish a website, office procedures and standard policies before offering consultations. However, he welcomes informal visits before then at his office in room 106 of Bannister Hall. He can be reached at 209.932.3017 or by cell at 209.715.3065.

The ombudsperson role is intended to supplement but not bypass the University's existing resources and policies for conflict resolution. In an effort to improve campus climate, Escalante will also assess policies and procedures and make informal recommendations for revision and improvement.
