Legal Issues in Early Childhood Education Programs

Legal_Issues_Childhood_EdIntended for childcare providers, assistant/associate teachers, master teachers, site supervisors, and program managers, this upper division course will examine legal issues pertinent to personnel in early childhood education programs. You'll refine your understanding of basic childcare laws, legal responsibilities of parents, teachers, para-professionals, and childcare managers. Topics to be examined include: ethical responsibility of childcare staff; mandated reporting responsibilities; legal rights of students, parents, and teachers; harassment in the workplace; preventing discrimination complaints; school safety; and confidentiality laws.
