San Francisco Experience
Undergraduate students at University of the Pacific can study and work in San Francisco this summer. The San Francisco Summer Experience gives students the opportunity to earn up to seven units of undergraduate credits at Pacific's state-of-the-art campus in the SoMa district of San Francisco. In addition to two courses, optional internships may be available and are currently being developed in conjunction with Pacific's Career Resource Center.
Through this program, students from a variety of majors can position themselves for careers in the arts, biotech, business, communications, computer science, publishing, and urban planning.
Two courses will be available through this new program:
- "Arts and the City" (GE IIC) will be taught by Dr. Macelle Mahala, associate professor of Theatre Arts and recipient of the 2014 Stephen E. Corson Award for Distinguished Teaching of Freshmen.
- "Technology and the Bay Area" (GE IIIC) will be facilitated by Dr. Kirkwood Land, associate professor of Biological Sciences and a renowned researcher in the field of anti-protozoal drug discovery and development.
Both courses are specifically designed to explore the employment opportunities and cultural resources of the Bay Area. The courses may be taken together or separately. Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends in order to accommodate students' possible interneship responsibilities.
Site visits to museums, theaters, tech companies, and research centers are an integral part of this program. Students will also have the oppportunity to attend networking events with young and successful alumni.
