DeRosa University Center will be closed beginning Dec. 14 for installation of new flooring

Dec 2, 2014

Students returning from the holiday break will find something new under their feet as they stroll through the DeRosa University Center.

New vinyl flooring will be put down over the current concrete flooring, which is cracking in some places. The new floor is expected to withstand the comings and goings of students, faculty, staff and guests for at least the next decade or two.

The flooring project — covering 22,000 square feet of the DeRosa University Center's total of nearly 55,000 square feet — is being paid for by Physical Plant, savings from Dining Services and money received in liquidating old furniture.

The DeRosa University Center will be closed beginning Dec. 14 until the first week of January. Students, faculty and staff on campus during the closure will find alternative dining at The Grove.

And over the summer, new furnishings and other features will be added in The Marketplace, The Lair and The River Room of the DeRosa University Center. New patio furnishings will be added along the front of the DeRosa University Center and the fire pit area on the west side of the building.
