New interactive exhibit in the Library

Sep 19, 2014

An interactive display for public use has been installed at the main Library. The purpose of the exhibit, "Flow Fantasy," is to provide a demonstration device as a tool for informal science education for the campus community and its guests.

It consists of three circular cells that contain liquid dish soap, beach sand and tiny precision balls. Each cell is attached to a turntable that allows users to easily turn them. Upon turning the cells, visually engaging patterns appear that demonstrate inherent beauty and complexity of fluid flow.

The display was designed by School of Engineering and Computer Science profesor Said Shakerin and funded by a 2013 SAAG, It is located next to the elevator and Information Commons.
