Vision Service Plan (VSP) wants to know when was the last time you had an eye exam?

Did you know that annual eye exams are as important as your annual physical?  However, many people skip the annual eye doctor visit.  Why?  Not sure.  But in case it is because you do not know what to expect, here is an overview of an eye exam. Nothing to be afraid of!


1.       Nice to meet you - meet and greet
2.       An oldie but a goodie - the Snellen Chart
3.       One or two? Known as refraction, checking your eyes with subtle different lenses to see which helps you see more clearly.
4.       First the left, then the right. Checking to see if your eyes are working together as a team and as individuals.
5.       Color time. Testing for color vision. What do you see, red or green?
6.       The puff test - A little puff of air on each eye is testing for glaucoma and measures the fluid pressure inside your eyes.
7.       A closer look - doctor may dilate your eyes with drops to take a closer look.
8.       Zoom in - a super close look at your eyes to check for cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
