"Go forth with joy": The Class of 2014 makes its mark
College of the Pacific students are awarded hoods and diplomas; recognized with college and university-wide honors.May 21, 2014
It was a happy, bittersweet day on Saturday, May 10, as the College of the Pacific wished the Class of 2014 good luck and sent the newest class of Tiger alumni on their way. Once the day was done, the College had awarded 535 bachelor's and master's degrees, and had honored stand-out students for their hard work, dedication, and success.
As students prepared to leave the Alex G. Spanos Center as university graduates, College of the Pacific Dean Rena Fraden reminded students that the education and experiences they had achieved at Pacific did not stop once the students passed through Pacific's iconic gates and into life after college.
"As you go on to cultivate your own garden, and secure a good life for yourself and those you love -- given the great good fortune you have had to land at Pacific, to have had the privilege of this education - do not turn your back on the bigger landscape," said Dean Fraden during her remarks. "All of you have had an education that will allow you to address in some measure any one of the existential threats of our time. Exercise that education: evaluate the findings of science, be critical of simplistic blue or red political solutions, appreciate artistic expressions of beauty and solace. We have the greatest hopes for you - and because of you, we have hope even for our warming earth."
Take a look at some of the outstanding accomplishments achieved by members of the Class of 2014.
