Pacific to host 2015 Asian studies regional conference

University of the Pacific has been selected to host the Asian Studies on the Pacific Coast conference June 5-7, 2015 on the Stockton campus. ASPAC is a regional affiliate of the national Association for Asian Studies, the premier professional association for scholars, teachers and students in a range of disciplines, mainly in the humanities and social sciences.   

The conference  typically has about 250 paying attendees. In general, participants in the conference are faculty and graduate students, but at Pacific we will be sure to include undergraduates in some capacity.  

Recent hosts of the ASPAC conference include the Monterey Institute in 2013; Gonzaga University in 2012; and Pomona College in 2011. 

An opportunity for cross-disciplinary collaboration
Although the disciplines represented at the conference tend to be within the social sciences and humanities, a truly exceptional conference will incorporate the zesty breadth of our entire learning community. Consider if there may be tie-ins with your school, department or research project that will draw more participants, foster cross-disciplinary engagement and result in greater overall reach and visibility for what we do at Pacific.      

This could take the form of academic presentations, performances, poster sessions, exhibits, excursions or other activities, music, film screenings, etc.
