Pacific ASDA Chapter Recognized for Outstanding Fundraising

Mar 27, 2014

At the 2014 American Student Dental Association (ASDA) Gold Crown Awards ceremony held in February, Pacific Dugoni's ASDA Chapter received the Outstanding Fundraising award, taking home this title for the first time. Pacific's ASDA Chapter executed a creative fundraising plan to exceed budgeting goals, support the community and ensure that the chapter will continue to provide educational opportunities for student dentists.

"This year's highly successful ASDA chapter fundraising was very much a team effort that involved our chapter leaders plus many other student volunteers," said Andrew Cummings '15, president of the Pacific ASDA Chapter. "Students from each class really stepped up to the plate this year. The funds have set our chapter up for success this year and into future years, so thanks to everyone who helped out so energetically."

Pacific's ASDA Chapter raised funds for community organizations in addition to supporting chapter activities. Through Penny Wars, the chapter raised money for City Youth Now, a local charity that provides legal, medical, dental and other services to foster children in San Francisco. Members also sported mustaches for the Movember campaign to raise support for testicular and prostate cancer. Taking a fun new twist on fundraising, Pacific ASDA members created "Dugoni Ties," selling bow ties in school colors to show off their Pacific Pride and support chapter activities. Other fundraising activities included a vendor fair, pre-dental day, bur sale and a few small grants.
