Senior Project Day
All seniors in the School of Engineering and Computer Science are required to complete a design project as part of their degree requirements. The projects allow the students to practice what they have been learning in the classroom and implement the design process. The projects are presented and demonstrated on Senior Project Day each year before Commencement and judged by a panel made up of alumni and industry experts.
"Senior projects are a great compliment to an engineering and science education. By incorporating a hands-on and practical element to their studies, students learn how to translate academics into real life, how to solve problems and it allows them to participate in work that is relevant and reflects their interests. It is an excellent opportunity for students to work with their peers and differentiate themselves with prospective employers by showcasing creativity, independent work and providing insight into their capabilities, problem solving skills and interests." - Alicia Stamps '01

The Value of the Senior Project
"The senior project is the beginning of "welcome to the world" where no one tells you what to do, when to do it and how to do it. It transitions the student to real-world problems where situations are unstructured and uncertainty reigns. At the end of the project students feel comfortable defining problem requirements, designing a solution and implementing the design." - Dr. Abel Fernandez, Program Director, Engineering Management
