Pacific Men's Volleyball Hosts Grand Canyon, No. 8 Lewis

Fresh off a season-opening win over No. 14 Cal State Northridge, the Pacific men's volleyball team opens its home slate against Grand Canyon at 7 p.m. Friday at the Alex G. Spanos Center. The Tigers will also take on No. 8 Lewis at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Tigers (1-0) are just outside the AVCA Top 15 poll, with 27 points to be slotted 16th.

Thomas Hodges led the way last Saturday with 18 kills in the Tigers 3-1 win over Northridge. He slugged .421 with just two errors on 38 swings as Pacific prevailed at the USCB Asics Invitational.

Junior middle blocker Tommy Carmody and sophomore hitter Christian Franceschi each added seven kills while sophomore middle blocker Marty Ross added six kills with a a .417 hitting percentage.

Hodges added two solo blocks and 11 assisted blocks, while senior libero Javier Caceres pulled up 17 digs. Sophomore Marco Grasso paced Pacific at setter with 41 assists.

The Tigers look to remain unbeaten against Grand Canyon and Lewis. Grand Canyon has yet to play this season, after finishing 17-15 last season.

Lewis is 1-1 this season with a loss to No. 3 UC Irvine (1-3) and a win over No. 9 BYU (3-1). Lewis will face No. 4 Stanford Friday night in Palo Alto before Saturday's contest.
