Welcome to 2014. Happy New Years! I hope your holidays all went well and you are ready for some great Tiger action in 2014!

Men's Volleyball Begins Its Final Season
With the new year comes the beginning of new seasons for many of our sports, the first of which to kick off the new year is our men's volleyball program. The men are down in Santa Barbara, Calif. to take part in UCSB's 50th Annual Asics Invitational on Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4. This year's tourney features 10 teams split into two five-team pools. In the Tigers' pool are Stanford, Cal Baptist, UCSB, and Harvard. On the other side are Long Beach State, UCLA, Cal State Northridge, UC San Diego, and IPFW.
After competing down south, the Tigers come home for the first time in the new year next weekend when they take on Grand Canyon at the Spanos Center on Friday, Jan. 10 at 7:00 pm.

Men's Basketball Heads To The Northwest For First WCC Road Trip
The Pacific men's basketball travels to the Northwest for its first WCC road trip of the 2013-14 season. The Tigers face Portland on Thursday night, then take on No. 24 Gonzaga on Saturday, Jan. 4. The games will be televised by Root Sports and
Pacific is 9-3 after an 88-80 loss to Saint Mary's on Monday night. Senior Andrew Bock scored a career-high 23 points in the loss. The Tigers are ranked No. 10 in the latest Mid-Major top 25 poll. Bock leads the team with 12.6 points per game, while senior Tony Gill is averaging a team-best 5.6 rebounds per game.

Women's Basketball Faces BYU On National TV Thursday; San Diego Saturday
Pacific hits the road for its first women's basketball West Coast Conference road trips, taking on BYU on Thursday at 6 p.m. PT on BYU-TV, and San Diego on Saturday (2 p.m.). The Tigers look for their first WCC victory against a pair of teams receiving votes in the polls.
The Tigers (5-7 overall, 0-2 WCC) have played the No. 17 toughest schedule in the country, and the road gets no easier against a 12-1 BYU team and a San Diego squad that is 13-0 entering Thursday action. With this weekend's opponents a combined 25-1, Pacific strength of schedule is expected to climb into the top five. The Tigers have faced just one Division I opponent outside the RPI Top 160 (a win over #228 Arizona), and will have played six games against the top 50 of the RPI by Saturday.
