Latin American Studies Program

The mission of the Latin American Studies Program at Pacific is to create an academic environment that engages faculty and students in the interdisciplinary study of Latin America and Latinx culture, via invited lectures, films, workshops, round tables, and other cultural events as well as the minor in Latin American Studies. The interdisciplinary minor is intended to provide students with cultural competencies that will develop their knowledge of the region and provide a competitive advantage in any profession.

Minor in Latin American/U.S. Latinx Studies

The interdisciplinary minor in Latin American and U.S. Latinx studies is designed to provide students with linguistic and cultural competencies that will deepen their intellectual experience while providing a competitive edge in any profession.

A faculty adviser will help each student plan an individualized course of studies within the framework of the minor. Students who enter the program without a high intermediate level of Spanish may need to complete foundational language courses prior to enrolling in some required courses.


Who can benefit from a minor in Latin American / U.S. Latinx Studies?

Students majoring in business, economics, pre-law, natural sciences, art or theater. Future health care workers, speech and language pathologists, educators, psychologists, social services and law enforcement professionals. Anyone who is interested and looking for a way to enhance their resume.
