Michael Dukakis

In January, Michael Dukakis, former governor of Massachusetts and the 1988 Democratic Party nominee for president, visited the Stockton campus to discuss the provocative issue of health care. An expert in the field, he provided thoughtful, deeply informed remarks about health care policy and the challenge of health care reform.

Soledad O'Brian

In February CNN correspondent Soledad O'Brien delivered the keynote address for our Black History Month celebration. O'Brien created the critically-acclaimed CNN series "Black in America," one of the highest rated television documentary series in history. Her insightful talk focused on the African American experience in the U.S., including her own childhood and her experiences reporting on race-related news stories.

Michael Pollan

On November 7, 2009, more than 80 students from Pacific McGeorge, UC Davis School of Law, and the University of the Pacific joined forces with immigration attorneys to aid nearly 300 immigrant attendees seeking United States citizenship. The event, promoted in five different languages, was coordinated by faculty members Raquel Aldana, Dorothy Landsberg, Blake Nordahl and Kathleen Benton. It was co-sponsored by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), state officials, the Univision television network, key figures from the University's Stockton campus, immigrant rights groups, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and Pacific McGeorge and UC Davis student groups.
