Winter Internship 2013

The Felipe Herrera Library

The Felipe Herrera Library (FHL) is a unit within the Knowledge and Learning Department (KNL) that provides services to the entire Bank.  The goal of FHL is to deliver customized information dissemination products in a timely and efficient manner to Bank-wide target clients. One important component of dissemination is the Bank's Repository of Institutional Knowledge, BRIK, where all of the documents, studies, publications, etc. of the IDB are housed.  BRIK is coordinated by KNL/FHL.  The candidate should have a strong interest in connecting customers with information seamlessly and a proactive attitude towards information dissemination. 

Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will provide support to the BRIK Team and library Cataloger in activities related to the maintenance and growth of the Bank Institutional Knowledge Repository (BRIK) as well as the management of donations.

The intern will work with KNL/FHL staff performing the following activities:

1. BRIK

1.1. Review the presentation collection to ensure that only presentations produced by the IDB are in the collection.

1.2. Review errors resulting from the batch imports carried out during the creation of the platform.  This is a big quality control task that goes beyond just reviewing abstracts and involves moving, merging and/or withdrawing items.

1.3. Assist with uploading sector notes and other documents from the Vice Presidency for Countries (VPC).

2. Donations

2.1. Process and sort the donations received.

Qualifications

Education Background

  • Master student. Knowledge of search techniques and attention to detail required.  Knowledge of metadata schemes and/or cataloging a plus. 

Computer Skills:

  • MS Office suite

Languages:

  • The candidate should have a good command of at least two official languages of the Bank (Spanish, English, French, Portuguese)

IMPORTANT NOTE

In addition to the previous eligibility requirements, candidates are allowed to apply to a maximum of two Winter Internship Job Postings. If the candidate applies to more than two job postings in the system, he/she will not be considered for the Winter Internship Program.
