Pacific Placement: Information & Deadlines

Please thoroughly read the information below. You may not need to complete a placement if you officially submitted standardized test results, articulated courses, and/or depending on your major. All placements should be completed by June 1, 2022 or as soon as possible.

How to check your course placement:

  1. Log in to your insidePacific account
  2. Enter your PacificNet ID and password
  3. Choose "Placement/Transfer"
  4. Click on the "here" to view your personal placement information, transfer credits or test credit evaluations.

First-Year Students -- Placements are needed to create your first schedule which we will build for you and you'll receive when you meet with your advisor in July.


Math Placement: The below chart provides the various pathways to math placement. Placement will be established by your highest score submitted. Transferable math college coursework may also be used for placement.

If you do not meet any of the above pathways or wish to challenge your placement, students will need to complete Pacific's Math Placement Module.  For questions regarding math placement, contact us at placement@pacific.edu .

  • The Pacific Math Placement Module is available online via CANVAS and can be completed from home. Log in to CANVAS here. Your username and password are the same as your insidePacific. Select "Courses", click on "Placement 2022-2023".

Chemistry Placement: Please check to see if this is required for your major. A list of all majors requiring the chemistry placement can be found below the "Chemistry Assessment" portion of your insidePacific "Placement/Transfer" tab. Students are placed based on three possible pathways: SAT Chemistry Subject Test score of 550 or above; AP Chemistry exam score of 2, 3, 4 or 5; Completing the Pacific online Chemistry Placement Module.

  • The Pacific Chemistry Placement Module is available online via CANVAS and can be taken from home. Log in to CANVAS here. Your username and password are the same as your insidePacific. Select "Courses", click on "Placement 2022-2023".

 

Foreign Language Placement: This placement is only necessary if you wish to take a foreign language during your first semester at Pacific, in a language that you have taken previously.

  • The Pacific Language Placement Module is available online via CANVAS and can be completed from home. Log in to CANVAS here. Your username and password are the same as your insidePacific. Select "Courses", click on "Placement 2022-2023".

 

Writing Placement: Writing placement is established by either a submitted SAT or ACT score.

Students who do not have a completed transferable course or standardized test (SAT/ACT) score on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing should complete the Pacific's writing placement.  Please allow additional time for evaluation of your writing sample. To view Pacific's ROAR (Roam Online Articulation Reports) for articulated transfer courses from an approved institution, please click here.

  • The Pacific Writing Placement Module is available online via CANVAS and can be completed from home. Log in to CANVAS here. Your username and password are the same as your insidePacific. Select "Courses", click on "Placement 2022-2023".

Please note, you would ONLY need to complete this module if you do not have a standardized test score in Evidences Based Reading (SAT) or Writing (ACT).
