Writing Course Placement Information

To satisfy the University's fundamental skills requirement in writing, a student must do ONE of the following during his/her first full year of study:

-score 550 or above on the SAT Writing Exam (SAT scores after March 2016)

-score 22 or above on the ACT English/Writing Exam

-AP English Language or Literature score of 3 or higher.

-complete a transferable course equivalent to a college writing course

If you have not met this requirement, you will take at least one of the writing course/s listed below. These courses are designed to provide you with support to succeed in college level writing. 

*Note: The Pacific writing test is only offered to transfer students without a writing placement and international students without an SAT, ACT, iBT, or IELTS writing score. Transfer students click here for testing options. If required, international students will test during International Student Orientation.
