The Pacific Legal Scholars program co-sponsors and hosts a number of law related field trips and events at both the Stockton campus and Pacific McGeorge. Highlights of some of our past events are shown below.

Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor answering questions from Pacific Legal Scholars and other students at the Women's Leadership Forum at Pacific.

   The Legal Scholars were invited to listen to Brigadier General Mark Martins, U.S. Army Chief Prosecutor for Military Commissions, speak about the tribunals at Guantanamo Bay.

The Legal Scholars sponsored a 'Conversation with the Chief' question and answer session with Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court, Tani Cantil-Sakauye.

 

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy (center) met with students and spoke at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Legal Studies Center at Pacific McGeorge. This reception included various attorneys, judges, and McGeorge faculty and Alumni.

A panel was held at Pacific's Stockton campus with Judge Mary M. Schroeder and Judge Consuelo Maria Callahan from the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The judges spoke about their experiences as women in the legal profession.

 

Professors Tom Brierton, Cindy Ostberg, and PLS Students with Former Director of the Central Intelligence James Woolsey (center).Woolsey spoke exclusively with the Legal Scholars and talked about his legal career and how he became involved in the CIA, his experience in law school and the importance of making connections to advance within the legal field.

 

Federal Court Judge Morrison England (center) invited the Legal Scholars inside his courtroom and chambers. He spoke about his career path and provided insight into the process of becoming a court judge.

 

Superior Court Judge Ronald Northup lectures during the Legal Scholars weekly course about his career as a Superior Court Judge.

 

Dean of Admissions for Pacific McGeorge, Tim Naccarato spoke to the Legal Scholars at the monthly club meeting regarding a homicide case.

PLS students talked with Tracy Simmons, Director of Admissions, and Joe Pinkas, Office of Financial Aid at Pacific McGeorge. Students learned what it takes to get into law school, and what financial options are available to them once they are accepted.

                                                                                                       

The legal Scholars talked with Kirupa Pushparaj, an intellectual property associate at Perkins Cole LLP in Palo Alto, California. Mr. Pushparaj handles patent litigation with an emphasis in computer, communications, semiconductor, electrical signal processing, clean energy technology, fuel cells, social media, internet, and consumer electronic technologies.

Legal Scholar Daniella Green introduced former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at Pacific's forum on Advancing Women's Leadership.
