The Second World War Through Japanese Eyes
This course will present the war in the Pacific from a relatively unknown perspective, that of the Japanese. Through a series of films, lectures, and eyewitness accounts, you will journey with the Japanese Navy to Pearl Harbor, travel across the sands of Iwo Jima, sail with kamikazes, and witness up close the horrifying effects of the Atomic Bomb. History is often written by the victors and rarely by the vanquished. At the end of this course you will have gained an entirely new understanding of the Second World War and the people who fought and died for the Empire of Japan.
