Where Will an Internship Take You?

Most Political Science students participate in more than one internship during the course of their undergraduate years at Pacific. Through these internships, students:

  • Gain invaluable experience and connections that can help them succeed in launching their careers.
  • Enrich their understanding of the concepts learned in class by seeing first-hand how they are manifested in real organizations and institutions.

Washington Semester Program

The Washington Semester program offers students the opportunity to spend a semester at American University in Washington D.C. Students can earn 16 credits toward their degree through a combination of internship, academic and seminar experiences.

Sacramento Experience Program

In the Sacramento Experience program, students serve as interns in government, lobbying or non-profit organizations and attend a weekly Sacramento Public Affairs Seminar which focuses on California state politics and public policy.

Other Internship Opportunities

Through the Sacramento Experience program and other internship opportunities in the area, Political Science students have interned for:

  • California Governor's office
  • California Journal
  • Office of the Mayor of Stockton
  • California state legislative offices
  • U.S. congressional offices
  • Local judges and district attorney
  • Local nonprofits for advocacy and community development
