Our Students

Our students don't just build a community within our department; they create a close-knit family that bonds on field trips, pursues social development and professional networking through their student organizations, and celebrates each other's achievements. Take a look at the activities and accomplishments of our Geological and Environmental Sciences family.

Student Clubs

Students for Environmental ActionOur students organize and lead two clubs within Geological and Environmental Sciences: the Students for Environmental Action (SEA), and the League of Extraordinary Geologists.  While their activities are different, they share a common goal: to change the way we think about the world around us, and to have a great time doing it. Field Trip Photos

Students in the fieldOur students are active off campus as well, and we offer plenty of opportunities to explore geology and environmental science first-hand, in the field. In addition to regional field trips in the geologically diverse state of California, students have had the opportunity to participate in some incredible geological spring break field trips—to Hawaii, Chile, and other destinations.
