International Student Orientation

COVID-19 Update:

We were looking forward to meeting you and your family members in person at University of the Pacific’s New Student and Family Orientations. However, due to the COVID-19 situation, this fall's New Student Orientation will be moving online to ensure the health and safety of our community. Updated information has been sent to new student's Pacific email addresses and included on our New Student Orientation and Family Orientation pages.

All incoming international students (undergraduate and graduate) must attend an international and new student orientation.

Orientation Dates:

  • Move-in: 17 August 2020
  • Orientation: Online

Important Notes:

  1. Orientation is mandatory for all F-1 and J-1 visa holders.
  2. Health insurance: Please see https://students.pulse.pacific.edu/insuranceoffice for an overview of health insurance at Pacific; submit your immunization records; and, if needed, complete the health insurance waiver at https://students.pulse.pacific.edu/insurancewaiver upon arrival should you decide to waive the Student Health Insurance Plan, or SHIP.
  3. Graduate Assistantships: If you have an assistantship, please check-in with International Programs and Services (IPS) within 48 hours of arrival to the U.S., so that IPS staff can update your immigration record and then assist with your Social Security card application.
  4. A Social Security card is required in order to pursue employment in the U.S. and the Social Security Administration recommends you arrive in the U.S. at least 10 days before the semester start date in order to facilitate the processing of your Social Security application (see https://www.socialsecurity.gov/pubs/EN-05-10096.pdf).
