Andrew K. Benton

Andrew K. Benton, WASC Chair

Andrew K. Benton has been president of Pepperdine University since 2000, but has guided the University in various capacities since 1984, including external relations and governmental and regulatory matters. From 1991 until 2000, Benton served as Pepperdine's executive vice president and chief operational officer. He is active in many legal, educational, athletic and community organizations including the American Bar Association and the largest convening organization in higher education, the American Council on Education, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Directors 2008-2009.


Robin Romans

Robin Romans is currently Associate Provost for Undergraduate Programs at USC. Before moving to the Provost's Office, he directed USC's prestigious Thematic Option Program and served as Assistant Dean of Honors Programs in the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences. In addition to his administrative duties, Robin teaches political theory courses in USC's Political Science Department. His teaching interests include classical political thought, Enlightenment thought, Liberalism, Marxism, feminism, and contemporary political theory.


Susan Albertine

Susan Albertine is the first senior director of LEAP State Initiatives in AAC&U's Office of Curriculum, Quality, and Assessment. Prior to this Albertine held the position of dean of the School of Culture and Society and professor of English at The College of New Jersey. She has also served as vice provost for undergraduate studies, Temple University, and assistant to the Provost, University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Albertine has been a faculty member at University of North Florida, St. Olaf College, and Susquehanna University, where she was chair of the Department of English.


Renee Barnett Terry

Renee Barnett Terry is Dean of Student Affairs at UCSD's Revelle College. Actively involved in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) at the regional and national levels, her areas of professional interests are new student programs, parental influence/impact on students, underrepresented students in higher education, student leadership and development, and generational issues and differences in college students.


Joanne M. Coville

Prior to becoming Vice President of Finance and Administration at California State University, Channel Islands, Joanne M. Coville has held the position of Executive Vice President at Oregon Graduate Institute, Assistant Controller and then Controller at Stanford University, and Assistant Treasurer at Mills College.




Teresa Van Horn

Teresa Van Horn is the director of the University of San Diego's American Humanics program, a national nonprofit management certificate program for undergraduates. Her research interests are in the areas of career mapping, recruitment and retention, mentoring, and collaboration. She was voted Senior Class 2008 Professor of the Year for the School of Leadership and Education Sciences.


Michael Webber

Michael Webber teaches in the areas of political sociology, sociological theory, and comparative historical sociology and has taught courses on nationalism, revolution, politics and society and social theory. Professor Webber's research has concentrated on how business is connected to political processes in the United States, focusing on the New Deal era. More recently, he has been conducting research on American nationalism, terrorism and political violence.


David C. Paris

David Paris is Executive Director of the New Leadership Alliance for Student Learning and Accountability. The Alliance aims to improve student learning through voluntary and cooperative professional efforts to significantly improve assessment of, and accountability for, student learning outcomes. David Paris is also a Senior Fellow at the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), Senior Advisor to the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), and a Professor of Government at Hamilton College.
