Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program

What is it?

The Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program provides fellowships to students of superior academic ability.  Fellows are selected on the basis of demonstrated achievement, financial need, and exceptional promise to undertake study at the doctoral and Master of Fine Arts level in selected fields of arts, humanities, and social sciences.

Who is eligible?

Applicants are required to be entering a doctroal program or have not completed their first year of a doctoral program, or will be entering a Master of Fine Arts program where the master's is the highest offered degree in that field in the year following their application to this program.

What are my chances?

The Jacob K. Javits Program is estimated to grant 43 new scholarships in 2009.  In 2008 the program granted 73 new fellowships with the maximum fellowship earning almost $43,000.
