Sustainability at Pacific
University of the Pacific's Sustainability Commitment states responsible leadership requires individuals and organizations to carefully evaluate short- and long-term social, economic, and environmental impacts of decisions before acting. Pacific is committed to creating a campus culture that advances this approach for a sustainable future among all members of the Pacific community. See the full University Commitment.

Sustainability in a Nutshell
The most commonly used definition comes from a report issued by the UN's World Commission of Environment and Development in 1987, commonly referred to as the Brundtland report. It refers to sustainable development as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
